Here are a few more self-help nuggets of advice for aspiring wealth builders from this blog post.
“I offered my skills to them in the form of an opportunity, one in which would help them further succeed at what they want to do.” – Benjamin P Hardy
Mr. Hardy’s advice, to make yourself part of the inner circle of a person who is doing it (“it” is presumably being a millionaire) is dangerous. Striving to become one of the elites often requires a belief in their story, their values, their success. This can be a path to abandoning your own values, beliefs and success. Tread carefully.
“It’s better to ask thoughtful questions.” – Benjamin P Hardy
I’ve no argument here. Listen and learn but also, take what you need and leave the rest.
What I notice about Hardy’s description of his mentoring session is the amount of time spent focusing on the mentors “goals and plans for expanding their business and simplifying their life.” Who, you might ask, is benefiting from this relationship?
Mentors can be and often are self-serving. Choose carefully and stay true to yourself. You do you!
“Who can either do this for me or help me do this?”
This is a suggestion to hire help. Yes, you will need help but not before you know what your business is. Leading your business is your business. You are the leader. Bringing in staff will change your role from entrepreneur to managing director. Are you ready?
“If your definition of “success” hasn’t changed in the past 12 months, then you haven’t learned very much.” – Alain de Bottton
Again, no argument here though I expect my interpretation is different from the author’s. Review your values, think about your truth, create a life that includes relationships, good health, challenges and ease. If you have these things and don’t have a million dollars, so what?
If you started reading this post because you wanted to be a millionaire in five years. Has anything changed? What will you do differently now?
