Creativity is a tricky thing. Sometimes you must chase it down. Yet for an entrepreneur, particularly an emerging entrepreneur; someone looking to enter the market with a disruptive and unique product, having a streak of creativity is crucial.
You may think you are not creative. You may say to yourself, “I am not creative, that is why I want to go into business”, but don’t believe the story you are telling yourself. You are creative. You can conceive and develop a business idea that is just right for you. If you are finding it difficult, you just need to try using different tools.
How about Doodling?
Have you tried doodling your thoughts?
Doodling is scientifically encouraged as an effective way to discover insights.
“When you draw an object, the mind becomes deeply, intensely attentive,” says the designer Milton Glaser, the author of a 2008 monograph titled Drawing Is Thinking. “And it’s that act of attention that allows you to really grasp something, to become fully conscious of it.”
Doodling, Drawing, Sketching
Doodling, drawing, sketching is a whole brain activity. With a box of crayons, markers or pencils you can be spontaneous, meditative, and exploratory. And, drawing, even if you are not good at it, can trigger new insights and free you from linier thinking.
It’s not just me who believes in the power of doodling. Check out this TED talk.
